My Parents’ House In Pictures

January 6th, 2007 by Nate

So I’ve been promising certain people that I would post some pictures of my parents’ home in Maryland for a while now. Finally, as promised, here are the pictures. The go from the front of the house, down to the basement, and out the back yard. Enjoy!

The Front Of The House
This is the front of the house. It’s a pretty good-looking house, IMHO.

The Front Room
This is the front room. It’s pretty classy, and it doesn’t get a lot of use.

The Kitchen
This is where the food action happens. It’s almost my favorite room.

The Family Room
This is my favorite room in the house. It’s got lots of windows, it overlooks the backyard, and its got a high ceiling. What’s not to love?

Family Room Stairs
This is the stairway that runs to the upstairs bedrooms. It also gives an idea of how high the ceiling is near the landing.

The Basement
This is the basement of my parents’ house in MD. It’s pretty big, and they haven’t filled it up with stuff (yet).

The Florida Room
This room is in the basement, and it empties out into the backyard. It’s perfect for parties and hanging out (in the summer, that is).

The Backyard
This is the top of the hill by the house looking down at the backyard.

The Back Of The House
This is the back of the house, looking up from the bottom of the hill by the stream.

The Stream
The coolest feature of the house is, by far, the stream. it runs through the backyard, and if you open the windows, you can hear it running. It’s soothing to fall asleep to.

The Woods
My parents live at the foot of a mountain, and there’s nothing behind them but mountain, woods, and deer. If I had been a kid growing up out here, I would have lived back there.

New Year’s Resolutions

January 2nd, 2007 by Nate

I’ve decided to post some of my New Year’s resolutions here, so that I’m a little more likely to stick with them if I have to endure public shame by admitting failure.

  • Get back to my running and gym schedule. I had a great 6-day running/gym schedule that I was doing for a while, and it felt great. I ended up throwing it by the wayside a little while ago because it wasn’t a priority and I got busy, but I think I’m going to move it up the list this time, because I liked feeling healthy so much.
  • Limit my fast-food consumption to a couple of times a month. I can’t go cold turkey, I’m a college student, OK?
  • Get on a budget and stay there. I’m getting tired of feeling like I’m working for money. I’m ready to have my money work for me. I’d like to be able to invest more in accounts and funds that will give me a little more bang for my buck.
  • Graduate with my sanity intact. This could be harder than it looks.
  • Get on the front page of Digg at least once.
  • Learn PHP.

That’s it for the time being, but I’ll try to add additional ones in the comments if I think of any. What are your New Year’s resolutions?
